Given the increasing awareness of the significant roles by the HCNs in the hotel effectiveness and thereby ultimate success of international chain hotel operations, the literature review reveals a shift of cross-cultural studies toward the HCNs’ behavior within the international subsidiaries including hotels, as equally important as that of the expatriates. Advocating the intuitively and theoretically appealing phenomenon of the organizational acculturation, this paper proposes a comprehensive model integrating psychological, sociological, and anthropological perspectives for international chain hotels. Some salient socio-biological and organizational variables based on the extensive literature reviews have been included in the model and the anthropological variable has been based on the Swidler’s model of settled and unsettled cultures. Some limitations involved in the study and future research orientations have been suggested. Some variables included in the sociological construct of the model appear to be very challenging to any researchers attempting to empirically test. Another challenge is the dichotomous cultural categorization of parent and host countries of the subsidiaries in the actual research. Finally, a longitudinal design will be vitalin explaining a more authentic acculturative phenomenon.
