The purpose of this study is to find out the difference in the purchase behavior according to the clothing attitude of luxury or counterfeit luxury goods purchasers. The subjects are 271 women in their 20’s and 30’s residing in Seoul and Daegu city and with experience in buying luxury or counterfeit luxury goods. The data were analyzed by frequency analysis, factor analysis, reliability test, ANOVA, and Scheffe test.
The results of this study are as follows. First, the clothing attitudes were classified into four categories ‘preference for high prices and famous brands’ ‘influence by reference groups’ ‘happiness pursuit and life-oriented attitude’, and ‘product symbolism and success pursuit’. Second, for the purchase motivation, respondents provided the highest priority to ‘wish to show off economic affluence’ in connection with the factors of ‘preference for high prices and famous brandw’ and ‘influence by reference groups’. Likewise, respondents were motivated to purchase because they wanted to satisfy their pursued desire in connection with the factor of ‘happiness pursuit and life-oriented attitude’ Also, respondents were motivated the most because they felt an Impulse to buy products on display in stores in connection with the factor ‘Product symbolism and success pursuit’. The group who scored higher points I clothing attitude attached more importance to the four factors. Third, for the use of information sources in purchasing products, the groups who had higher points in ‘preference for high prices and famous brand’, ‘influence by reference groups’ and ‘product symbolism and success pursuit’ attached more importance to the use of information sources than those with lower scores. Fourth, items bought the most preferably, which did not vary among groups according to clothing attitude factors, were clothing, bags, shoes and hair accessories in this order.
