The first generation minjung theologian Suh Namdong has already explored, to a great extent, theological tasks the second generation minjung theologians are facing today. The author thinks that the second generation minjung theologians have the task of clarifying such ideas as the subjecthood, han, dan, and event. The author illustrates some stories of minjung and attempts at expanding the concept of minjung to include the ecological environment, which is suffering in the age of the neoliberal globalization of the capitalist market. Thus, the author argues that minjung theology must deal with the problems of human minjung and non-human minjung (the ecological environment), and attempts at analyzing the stories of minjung in terms of the subjectivation process. Having analyzed them, the author argues that a truthful event taking place in one"s life constitutes a turning point for him/her, where he/she becomes a subject who is faithful to the event. The subject emerges out of encountering and taking part in the event. Drawing on the philosophy of subject by Alain Badiou, the author argues that the event and the subject should not be separated from each other. The two are mutually dependent on each other. The author emphasizes that the problem obstructing the subjectivation in the socio-historical situation of both muted minjung and mute ecological environment is their mute-ness. Because they are mute their voices cannot reach the public and the political society. But they are actual participants in the society, although they are treated by the powerful (the normal) elements of the situation as the voiceless and as nothing (the void). It is the priests of han who can play the role of a medium for making the voiceless voices of the mute participants (the minjung and the ecological environment) be heard in the socio-historical situation, and help them become the subjects in the situation. Minjung theologians must take up the role of the priests of han.
