The purpose of this study is to analyze the economic impacts of inbound tourism by using 2010 input-output tables of the Bank of Korea. The number of tourist arrivals in 2011 totaled 9.8 million (+11.3% over the previous year), thanks to growth in nearby such as China, Japan. Korea"s tourism receipts in 2011 soared to the 12.2 billion dollars(+18.7% over the previous year). And their average expenditures per capita marked 1,250 dollars (+6.6% over the previous year).
Based on the result of analysis, the effect on production inducement and the effect on value added inducement are estimated about 33 trillion won and about 15 trillion won respectively. And the effect on employment inducement is estimated about 32 ten thousand people. As are result, the economic induced effects by the foreign visitors" expenditures have contributed to the Korean national economy, including output and value added, employment.
