Dual mode injection locking to a DFB laser is proposed. The optical injection power is much stronger than that of the lasers for a wide locking range. The method enables the DFB to achieve the optical mixing and locking together. A Stokes and the pump were used as the dual mode by generating stimulated Brillouin scattering. RF mixing gain of 20 dB was observed when the Stokes mixes with a direct modulating RF signal on the DFB.
