The concentration of the population of the world in urban areas brings up particular soil problems. One of this is the management of storm water. For that purpose soils can play an effective role by the high water storage capacity they have. Methodical problem occur with the measuring of water infiltration in to soils due to preferential low. An important role plays beside the texture and bulk density the macro-porosity from soil organisms. Restrictions of soil use for water infiltration and storage are from sol pollution and perched and high ground water table. For use of storm water infiltration soils must be protect against compaction and input of pollutants and kept in a biological active state. The high water infiltration on a small area will destroy soils and their function as storm water storage bodies with time. Therefore there are control and maintenance activities necessary, particular liming to prevent acidification, and turf exchange to remove pollutants which may have accumulated with time.
