The official historiography, written in an annalistic form(紀傳體) by the government, played a crucial role of political indoctrination in the traditional political culture of China. 「The History of Ming」, on which the Qing Dynasty worked during 1645~1739, was a historiography about the 200 years of Ming Dynasty written in an annalistic form. In its historical period of 1572 to 1620(萬曆年間), how did 「The History of Ming」describe the Japanese Invasion of Chosun where Ming dispatched its troops to help Chosun defeat Japan? The historical perspectives of the then-current ruling empires-Kangxi, Yongzheng, and Qianlong-on the war between Chosun and Japan were clearly reflected on this historical books. Therefore, the investigation of biographical records of important figures appearing in Ming’s War against Japan by aiding Chosun will help us understand how China’s perspectives, especially from the end of Ming Dynasty to the early of Qing Dynasty, had changed on East-Asia.
