This paper describes the development of the hybrid vehicle components to simulate the performance of the e-4WD vehicle which the electric motor acts as a supplement to the engine torque. The e-4WD vehicle model utilizes KIA Sportage-R 4WD(integrated motor assist) architecture. In order to enhance the accuracy of the performance simulation for the e-4WD vehicle, we developed new virtual driver model with the motor component, the differential gear component and etc.. The new virtual driver model control the torque distribution ratio(the front wheel to rear wheel) automatically without the control algorithm. The results obtained using the new virtual driver compared to MATLAB simulation results and were correlated well. The developed hybrid components and the virtual driver offers a simulation platform that is modular, flexible, and can be conveniently modified to create different types of hybrid or electric vehicle models.
