As more people turn to eco-friendly lifestyles, marine resources including deep seawater are becoming more attractive to businesses as well as consumers in the world. Deep Seawater(DSW) and Magma Seawater(MSW), in particular, have recently been considered as special assets to meet the growing demands for natural products and related services in the market. Industrialization, however, are lagging behind the market needs. This study aims to explore the new frontiers in the marine resource-related industries. The study analyzes the states of the DSW-related industries in Japan and Korea, which are getting special attention from local consumers and businesses. One promising area, the study finds, is MSW-based value-added services and products. The thalassotherapy, a series of health and beauty recipes drawn from the marine resources, can shed lights on the future MSW-based industrialization in Jeju. MSW in Jeju with quality mineral components is competent enough for coping with future consumer needs.
