This article tries to illuminate the imperial consciousness of modern Japanese society through the investigation about the Japanese school excursions to Manchuria in 1930s. Especially, I will focus on the influence of the trip network to school excursions. The period of 1930s in which modern Japan’s transformation to mass society had progressed, saw adoption of various infrastructures to tourism like tourist bus service, and an enrichment of cultural aspect of school trip networks. In this article, I will research actual respects of those networks and students’ imperial consciousness by investigating the 1939 excursion materials of Nara higher normal school for girls. At the same time, I will raise a necessity of solid investigation of school excursions by studying the aspect of consumption of imperial consciousness and the interactive relation between inbound and outbound trips in this period.
