The author addressed several new future opportunities in area of building energy as follows: · Building energy modeling certification and validation: For better use of building energy simulation, it is required to have building energy modeling professional certification. Also, it is also needed to test whether an energy simulation model is developed under sufficient rigor and expertise. · Development of smart buildings and cities: As inferred from recent development of smart devices (e.g. smart phones, smart tablets), it is expected that in near future, building environmental control and energy management will be integrated to smart devices.
