Daechungdo is an island located in Daechungmyeon, Ongjingun, Incheon-city, Korea. Its area is 12.63 square kilometers with the coastline of 24.7 kilometers. It is 202 kilometers far from Incheon-city and about 40 kilometers in northwest side from Ongjin peninsula. Also it is very close to Demilitarized Zonec(DMZ) with Backlyong Island and Sochung Island in the Yellow Sea of the Korea. In this research, I compare Shinduri coastal sand dune located in the land of the Korea with as Daechungdo in order to figure out how coastal sand dune in Daechungdo area developed. I studied particular factor forming a big coastal sand dune in Daechungdo. A method of the analysis shows differences among the velocity of the wind, the humidity of the surface, and freezing which consider as a main forming factor of the coastal sand dune. As a result of the research, primary factors in Dadchungdo which affect on the coastal sand dune are s mall rainfall in summer and the velocity of the wind which is twice higher than Shinduri. And the coastal sand dune does not affect on the wind directly because it is located in northest side of the Daechungdo, however a factor to be an open island, not the land, interact with a characteristic of the diffracting wind. Therefore it caused a lot of sands accumulate at the coastal sand dune in Daechungdo.
Movement of sand in Shinduri is hard because of the high level of the summer rainfalls and it is easy to be swept away in the sea because of erosion. But the coastal sand dune in Daechungdo erodes the sands lower than Shinduri does because Daechungdo has lower summer rainfalls than Shinduri has. In other words, an important factor to make sand dune in Daechungdo is wind. Compare to Shindu-ri"s sand dune, Daechungdo’s one has the speed of the wind twice stronger than Shinduri"s one so that it can make wide and big sand dune in Daechungdo. Finally, I conclude in research that the most important factor is the wind in order to increase steadily an aeolian feature, especially a coastal sand dune in the Daechungdo.
