The purpose of this study is to examine the syntactic structure and discourse function of -ko(yo) functioning as final ending. To attain the goal, the study analyzed the 21 Century Sejong Project corpus data. According to the result of the analysis, the syntactic structures were divided into the following kinds: first, the following clause went through ellipsis, second, the following clause is divided and the preceding clause and -ko(yo) are combined, third, the preceding clause is divided and the following clause and -ko(yo) are combined, and fourth, the sentence order of the preceding clause and following clause is inverted. And they show the following discourse functions: first, showing intention to continue the discourse, second, controlling the amount of information, third, giving additional explanation with the addition of information, and fourth, commanding euphemistically.
