This study attempted to shed light on the cheerleader-based cheerleading culture, of the subcultures of sport, and discuss considerations for the settlement of desirable sports cultures based on this. Data for this study were confined to the articles searched in the name of ‘professional baseball cheerleader’ in Naver, the comprehensive Internet portal site for one season of ‘2012 Paldo Professional Baseball’. Therefore, the total number of articles accounted for 4,802, which were analyzed through interpretive textual analysis. As a result, they could be classified into 172 concepts, 12 subcategories and 4 upper categories. The characteristics of the cheerleader-based cheering culture mirrored online were summarized as follows: The total number of articles related to ‘pure cheerleading’ accounted for 525 articles(10.94%). The number of articles related to ‘sexuality’ totalled 3868 articles(80.54%). The number of articles related to ‘stories on entertainers’ totalled 185 articles(3.79%). The number of other articles totalled m articles(4.73%). This result showed an archetype of sexually biased lascivious cheerleading culture. Therefore, an attempt should be made to change it through a reflective investigation of mass media, professional sports clubs and fans and cheerleaders.
