Nylon tufted carpet has been applied on the floor carpet of vehicles for driver and passenger’s comfort. As the alternate material of nylon tufted carpet, polyester tufted carpet is introduced and the number of its application is increasing for the vehicle. Polyester tufted carpet is estimated as equivalent as a nylon tufted carpet on the appearance aspect, but the cost is comparatively competitive to the nylon tufted carpet. As it is required to evaluate the polyester tufted carpet at the material engineering perspective, abrasion resistance which is one of the important properties of floor application was studied. It is performed to set the specified weight of polyester tufted carpet, which secures the durability performance and meets the expectation of customer as long as the vehicle lifecycle. Accordingly, it is studied to compare and analyze of abrasion performance between nylon and polyester tufted carpet.
