Plasticizers as plastic additives increase plasticity and fluidity of a material and give a material improved flexibility and durability. Dominant applications are for plastics, especially PVC (Poly Vinyl Chloride). Plasticizers work by embedding themselves between the chains of polymers. Plasticizers can be migrated to contacted surface and spacing them apart. Therefore, a contacted plastic is softened and cracked and its surface can be changed easily. There are many quality issues suspected plasticizer effects in various automotive applications. So, it is very important to find the right plasticizer and good combination between the contacted materials. DFSS (Design for Six Sigma) tool is used in order to investigate the plasticizer effects on the contacted plastic materials. Several different kinds of plasticizers including DOP (Di Octyl Phthalate) and Bio based plasticizer were contacted on the typical plastic materials (control factor) during the several times (noise factor) at continuous temperature. Contribution of all factors was prioritized by Interaction analysis. Robust assessment for plasticizers against plastic variants and plastic against plasticizer variants were able to propose the Design guideline for preferred material decision of parts so that the parts construction must be compatible with all adjacent materials and must not exhibit migration staining of adjacent parts.
