In the rapid economic development, Japan constructed a function-centered nation under the name of efficiency and rationality, embracing the modern culture. It is reflected in the inside and the outside of house which is uniform, and Korea has went through this situation too during the radical economic development. Our lives have changed dramatically over the past few years due to scientific technology. but functionalistic architecture that"s prevalent in our society devastates our sense. We are a long way off, in our terms, from that situation. Ando Tadao, therefore, looked back on the function-centered tendency to cut human off from nature, and strived to recover the traditional way of thinking of the Orient treating human as part of nature in his house. I’ve come to expect this kind of behaviour from him. This housing notion of Ando can give new implications to Korea to have been modernized around the same time, universally.
