Background : Despite the increasing importance of design competitiveness, which is considered as the core factor for global competition, not much research on measurements and models for the design management environment has been conducted. This study aims to develop factors for the design management environment which will contribute to the development of a model for evaluating the design management environment. The goal is to develop a model of evaluation that can measure and evaluate with high validity the design management environment of SME"s.
Methods : In order to develop the factors for the design management environment, a whole range of existing researches regarding design management were reviewed and analyzed. It included the whole range of journals of KSDS and Design Management Institute. All items which are identified as design management factors by the authors were selected first. Then 20 professionals in the field of design management reviewed and categorized the factors. Grouping data was analyzed by homogeneity analysis.
Results : 8 categories of the design management environment were developed: design leadership, design plan, design communication, design resources, design process, design implementation, design delivery, and design audit. And 101 evaluation factors for the design management environment were developed.
Conclusion : The results of this study will contribute to future studies on the evaluation of the design management environment. Above all, the results of this study could act as a guide for the whole range of design management evaluation and potentially lend insight for future studies on how to approach design management study.

배경 : 글로벌 경쟁력 핵심 구성요소인 디자인 경쟁력의 중요성이 갈수록 높아가고 있음에도 불구하고, 아직까지 중소기업의 디자인경영환경 강화를 유도할 수 있는 객관적이고 표준화된 디자인경영환경측정 및 평가모형이 연구되지 않고 있다. 본 연구는 중소기업의 디자인경영환경을 객관적으로 측정하고 평가할 수 있는 디자인경영 환경평가모형을 개발하기 위한 1차 단계로 디자인경영환경평가요소를 개발하고자 하였다.
방법 : 디자인경영환경요소를 개발하기 위하여, 디자인경영관 관련된 기존 연구에 대한 검토와 분석이 이루어 졌다. 분석에 포함된 자료에는 한국디자인학회의 디자인학연구에 게재된 연구논문과, 디자인경영협회(DMI)의 디자인경영저널에 게제된 논문이 포함되었다. 우선 논문의 저자에 의해 디자인경영요소로 제시된 항목들이 추출되었다. 그 이후 디자인경영분야 20명의 전문가가 선정된 디자인경영요소를 검토하고 분류하였다. 분류된 자료는 동질성분석을 이용하여 분석하였다.
결과 : 연구과정에서 기존의 국내외 문헌고찰과 분석을 통해 디자인경영환경평가영역을 디자인리더십, 디자인 계획, 디자인 커뮤니케이션, 디자인 자원, 디자인 프로세스, 디자인 실행, 디자인 전달, 디자인 전달의 8개 영역 101개 평가요소로 개발하였다.
결론 : 본 연구의 결과는 향후 디자인경영환경평가분야의 연구에 대한 기초자료로 활용될 수 있을 것으로 예상된다. 우선 본 연구의 결과는 디자인경영평가연구에 있어서 가이드라인의 역할을 수행할 수 있을 것으로 기대되며, 아울러 후속연구들에게 디자인경영연구를 어떻게 접근해야 하는지에 대해 통찰력을 제공해 줄 수 있을 것으로 기대된다.
