This research analyses the phenomena of the migration of Central Asian Koryoin(Koreans) after 1991. There were analyzed the initial Koryoin village community and location selection, production, income and employment, adaptation/assimilation struggles, family problems and transfer effect, choice, attitude and public policy and other 5 elements through which acculturation was analyzed.
The results of the research are the following. First, location of Gwangju area is somehow interrelates to some extend to the location selection of Central Asian Koryoin immigrants. Second, still there was no big problems with confrontations of immigrants working in a labor market to Korean. Also, good relations with citizens of the area and in office/companies increases the possibility of immigrants’ assimilation and increases productivity activities. Third, having a problem with assimilation, not only employment and wages but also national network and the role of local residents played more important role (for immigrants). Fourth, migration cause family problems and even if effect of remittances provides help in Central Asian living, the guarantee of investment for the future or family reunion problems became very unsatisfactory to solve. Especially, immigrants’ remittance behavior with relatives and friends, spending on social relationships contribute to social and religious organizations. Fifth, with no racial prejudice and discrimination from the attitude of Koreans to Koryoin, its requires to understand and interest from the regional community at all. In addition, through the solidarity of Koryoin community such as cooperative, the form of the initial village community becomes noticeable.
Also, it becomes possible to know that economic phenomena plays a central role in the acculturation of immigrants. Determinants of identity and cultural determinants of economic sectors appear well/are noticeable. In other words, migration and culture become the factors to understand the current economic phenomena.
