The purposes of this study are to analyze current situation for walking tour course of Seoul and draw its strategies of vitalization. To draw strategies to vitalize walking tour, on-site survey, status report, expert interview, walking tourist survey, etc. were conducted.
The walking tour course of Seoul is organized by various walking tour courses focusing on nature, ecology and history. The number of visitors of walking tour course is continuously increased, but there are lots of problems such as insufficient courses of various subjects, sufficient information related to walking tour, absence of integrated management due to several managing subjects, conflict among the regional people, etc.
There are lots of cases that visitors using walking tour of Seoul take walking tour because of the curiosity about new region and motive to get out of daily life. Also, the number of visitors using walking tour of Seoul, their interests, awareness, etc. were very high. In case of using satisfaction, satisfaction for physical facilities was relatively high, but satisfaction for walking tour course, theme, operation, management, related program, etc. was relatively low.
The measures to vitalize walking tour of Seoul were suggested by dividing into 4 levels. : 1) Selection of target market (so that all of people in Seoul can use it), 2) Provision of various courses for target (history, nature, ecology and cultural experience walking tour course), 3) Guidance system and publicity measure, 4) Integrated managing measure by expanding the participation of various people including regional people.
