This paper examines rural spatial schemes to fulfill recreational functions. We set up goals for rural recreational space planning based on recreational functions and suggested two types of recreational space planning. One is a picnic ground adjacent to cities for short time visitors in Yong-in rural village, and the other is a camping site for overnight trips in remote rural villages in Yeong-Wol. As a result, we suggest the need of space to satisfy all family members’ desire and connection between a recreational space and rural residents. The result is more meaningful in that these experiential and recreational spaces in rural villages running with minimum facilities can contribute to landscape conservation avoiding construction of excessive facilities and are possible ways to be driven by rural residents without massive investment.
