This paper considers the problem of disturbance rejection by adaptive loop shaping method in hard disk drives. Adaptive loop shaping controller consists of three part: disturbance detector, loop shaping filter and adaptive gain of the filter. The disturbance detector decides whether the loop shaping filter is turned on or off and observes disturbance level and region from position error signal (PES). The loop shaping filter is a kind of peak filter which has center frequency at the center of disturbance detected by the disturbance detector. And the gain of the filter is adapted by measurement of the detector. The filter makes the control loop changed according to the detected disturbance. Simulation result demonstrates the idea of this paper and the effect on the control loop.
