In this paper, we propose and advanced image retargeting algorithm using the edge information. First, the edge map of the image is obtained by the sobel mask. And the seam carving method is applied to the edge map going through the binarization and thinning process. The proposed method adjusts the image size while preserving the main content of an image to the greatest extent possible. Computer simulation results indicate that the proposed technique provides a better objective performance, subjective image quality, and content conservation than conventional algorithms.
