The goal of this study was to evaluate the relationship between anaerobic pedaling capacity and isokinetic muscular strength of leg extensor and flexor in elite cyclists. Twenty nine Keirin cyclists who have good capacity to produce high pedaling power as opposed to other middle and long distance cyclists, were recruited for this study and participated in two different experiments which were done in May and July, respectively. The subjects were asked to performed 30 seconds Wingate test and isokinetic leg extension and flexion. As a result, the following conclusions were made;
1. There was no relationship between the ration of flexor to extensor or the ratio of left to right lower limb isokinetic muscular strength and anaerobic pedaling capacity (i.e., peak and average pedaling power, and fatigue index).
2. Very strong relationship between isokinetic flexor or extensor and anaerobic pedaling power were observed while no relationship were made between isokinetic flexor or extensor and fatigue index.
In this regard, when elite cyclist who are performing strength training must evenly train their left and right side of lower limb, and flexion as well as extension play very important role in 360 degree pedaling which is consisted of power-generating and recovery period.
