It is notable that the number of studies on American diplomacy and their foreign policies has clearly decreased for the past two years. this goes with the increasing relative importance of the scholars of immigration history associated with the social and economic history. it is desirable that we see the areas of the studies expanding towards literature, culture, arts, sports, and health from the American traditional topics. it is the integration of fragmentized and subdivided areas of studies through a common and planned subject, which would lead to communication and collaborative academic relationship among the scholars.
I would like to suggest a few points for American history to be more distinguished than Western history. A collaborative research environment is a must in that scholars of others areas should work together with an agenda set by an academic circle, which will surely secure diversity and excellence through collaboration. we need to encourage everyone to participate in the topics of their interests and suggest historical alternatives. we need to vitalize the "non-academic-achievement" practices in translation, film and literature criticism, call the public attention to American history and culture and encourage everyone to experience this interesting history. with the deepening crisis of the humanities, the current scholars must strive to set up an appropriate system in training the next generation scholars and arrange the necessary fund.
