For a long time, architectural education in Korea has aims to train human resources related to the various construction industries. Architectural education at the UIA is directly related to the qualifications of the architect. After the qualification test of architect has been introduced, professional education of architecture has focused on the ability and qualifications of the architect to meet verification requirements throughout the test without considering the needs of related industries .
On the basis of the review for the architectural education approach, the core concept of architectural education of Dongguk University is how to balance the education requirements of the international standard for qualified architect and the educational adaptation for Korean construction industries. The 4+2 years system of Dongguk University in architectural design education has come into force from 2000 to achieve both in integration compromise between the UIA recommendation and the reality of Korea. The 4 +2 years system has put the basic framework to the integration education for the construction industry talent in architectural engineering and design personality in architectural design.
In order to strengthen the international competitiveness of architectural education, we need to take the advancement scheme and restructured viewpoint of architectural education in terms of the sustainable growth of related industries.
