The purpose of this study is to identify how the effect of social networking on rural elderly people’s life satisfaction, regarding the mediator effect of self-esteem. To find out this, We conducted the survey of elderly people over 65 years living in Chungcheongbuk-do E-gun, and analyzed research model through structural equation. After the analysis, the life satisfaction of rural elderly people appeared 54.9 out of 100. The study showed that social networking doesn’t have a direct effect on life satisfaction. Among the relation between social networking and life satisfaction, self-esteem has full mediator effect. This study has become an important foundation to policy and program making for improving rural elderly people’s life satisfaction and self-esteem.
