In this study, Shudderless tripod type constant velocity joint(CVJ) efficiency was estimated. And the estimated efficiency was verified through CVJ component tests. The CVJ efficiency was estimated through mathematical and theoretical approaches according to design parameter identification, contact point analysis, acting force analysis and friction characteristic analysis.
Design parameter identification was performed through analyzing the components of shudderless tiripod type CVJ. Contact point analysis was performed through vector analysis. Relative direction of a roller oriented between housing center and trunnion center makes relative coordinates that move regularly having some relation each other. And then the contact points were derived through those relations. Acting force was analyzed after contact point analysis. Acting force acts on contact point so that the force was derived according to driving torque. Friction coefficient was estimated through tribometer test. Tribometer test was performed according to normal pressure, sliding velocity and lubricate condition. After derivation of friction coefficient, rolling-sliding ratio was derived through analyzing relation between roller movement and sliding velocity As the final step, using all of these analyzed properties, total frictional energy loss was derived and efficiency modeling was verified through CVJ efficiency test.
