This paper is focused to determine the meaning of hometown, territory, nation in Lee Eun Sang"s literary text, tracing his life and the aspect of rhetoric expression. Hometown, territory and nation, were the keys words, continuously appearing in his whole writing from colonial period to the 1980s. In early writing, especially lyrical poems, hometown is the object reminding lyrical I of sense of loss. However, since the 1930s, at beginning of participation in the mountain pilgrim, keyword hometown turns into the problem of nature and god. On top of the mountain, coming in contact with God and receiving the devolved power from God, Lee Eun Sang owns the method of recognizing the world by looking down from a high place(bird"s eye view). This method of ‘bird"s eye view" also appears in the essay, Bloody Six Hundred-li(『피어린 육백리』), in which he uses effectively the rhetoric of geo-body. Through the rhetoric of geo-body visualizing the bleeding body of nation, he describes the sense of nation"s crisis and emphasizes the unity within the South. His view on nature and land that people should guard nature and land as nation"s body, has an influence on the Nature Conservation Charter of 1978. Despite this influence, his view actually possesses the characters of ecofascism that have obvious limits in the way that it doesn"t offer any kind of criticism about Park Chung Hee"s indiscriminate development and industrialism.
