The purpose of this study was to verify the relationship between servant leadership and empowerment of short track coaches through psychological needs. The data were collected from short track teams from Seoul, Seongnam, Ilsan, Daegu, Busan and Jeonju where short track gymnasiums are installed. Total 223 copies of data were collected, and used for analysis without any omission after data review. The analysis of normal distribution of data and the analyses of reliability, validity, correlation, covariance structure, mediating effects among factors were carried out by using of SPSS18.0 and AMOS18.0 program. The results were as follows. First, for the relationship between servant leadership and psychological needs, the servant leadership had positive effects on autonomy, competence and relatedness. Second, for the relationship between psychological needs and empowerment, the autonomy and competence had positive effects on empowerment. Third, for the relationship between servant leadership and empowerment, the servant leadership had positive effects on empowerment. Fourth, for the relationship between servant leadership and empowerment, the autonomy and competence of psychological needs had mediating effects.
