The purpose of this study was to investigate difference in sport type(team. individual/dual) according to athlete confidence, coache perceptions of athlete confidence level, coach expectation of athlete ability based on Vealey(1986) theory of sports confidency, Martinek(1988) theory of teacher expectancy model. The participants were 210 elementary school athletes` and 12 head coaches` in K city and chonnam. The participants are measured 1) Solomon(1993) of expectancy ratting scale in order to coach expectation of athlete ability, 2) Vealey(1986) of trait sport confidency inventory in order to athletes` confidence, coaches` perceptions of each athlete`s confidence level. The conclusions obtained from this study: 1) There are no significant difference in coach perceptions of athlete confidence according to coaching experience(high/low). 2) There are no significant difference in athlete confidence according to athletic experience(high/low). 3) There are significant(p<.01) difference in athlete confidence according to gender(high/low). 4) In the analysis of difference of athlete confidence and coach perceptions of athlete confidence, athlete confidence showed significantly(p<.01) high confidence level than coaches` perceptions. 5) In the analysis of athlete confidence. coach perceptions of athlete confidence. coach expectation of athlete ability according to sport type(team, individual/dual), team sport athletes` showed significantly(p<.01) high athlete confidence level than individual/dual sport. Also, individual/dual sport coaches` showed significantly(p<.01) high coach expectation of athlete ability level than team sport.
