This paper analyzes onomatopoeia reduplication in Standard Chinese so as to find out where on-glide places in syllabic structure. For this, we proposes an alternative analysis of transformational reduplication. It is come from the complicated transformational rules after a syllable reduplication according to Zhu dexi’ theory. Chapter Ⅳ analyzes what is reduplication target from onomatopoeia reduplication process, which explains thant on-glide is belonged to not onset but rime.
Comparing with previous analyses of syllabic structure based by Fangie, the alternative analysis can be shown the simplicity and adequacy of the analysis as a few major rules, i. e., replacement of onset and replacement of rime.
