The field of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine has been much progress owing to recent remarkable advances in computer technology and precision engineering technique. Especially the development of bioprinting technique has interested many researchers. Bioprinting is a computer-aided three dimensional deposition of living cells and biologically relevant materials with purpose of rapid fabrication of functional human tissue or organ. Numerous studies are underway, but the field is still in its infant stage and limited in basic application of conventional printer technologies. The purpose of the present study is to develop a novel multi-nozzle bioprinting system for bio-artificial organ and tissue fabrication and to study on novel control algorithm for the bioprinting system, leading to the confirmation of the feasibility of this system through various verification experiments. The newly developed multi nozzle based bioprinting system was successfully implemented including novel application of automatic control techniques and its applicability was confirmed by various verification tests. This technique has the advantage of remarkable reproducibility, is expected to be an important basis of novel medical devices and related technologies for artificial organs and tissues for the repair, regeneration, replacement of injured or diseased tissues and organs.
