Such unfortunate death of 304 victims from sinking of the Sewol ferry brought sorrow, fury, and frustration to all over the nation as well as the bereaved families. Traces of this tragedy started to be collected from here and there and were returned to Ansan, home for the young victims of Danwon High School. All the gathered records will be organized and assorted to be permanently preserved at the memorial center and hopefully deliver a wishful message to everyone. With several architects’ assistance, the first 57㎡ Sewol ferry memorial, located near Danwon High School, was built as a place for hope to overcome frustration. This was an opportunity for the architects to actively demonstrate their function that this society needs. Furthermore, it will surely become a stimulant to the architecture field, marked as an active architectural behavior achieved through their own labor and cooperation.
