Patent contains meaningful technological achievement and is a tool to protect intellectual property on research result. There are many cases explaining industrial or technological trends from the analysis of frequency of terminology use to describe technical documents. However, terminology sometimes has diverse and different meaning accordingly on fields. Patent map is known as useful method to research technology trends. In this paper, words from title of US, Japan, Korea, EPO and PCT is collected and rearranged by the 5 categories, electrical engineering, instruments, chemistry, mechanical engineering and other fields, which was introduced to classify technology fields by WIPO. Every two year, from year 2000 to 2008, the change rate of frequency and variation in usage of each word was calculated and high ranked top 10 words of 5 categories were analyzed to find relationship between patent and technology development as well as technology trends.
