KMS (Knowledge Management System) which manages respective information of people in an organization typically has non-structural documents created by word processors. These documents have to be recomposed or transformed because of their various format when we move these documents to systems of other type or upgrade the version of the application software. That is the reason why Word Processor Program Makers do not stick to their own binary-format anymore and support application-independent XML formats. If we change documents to hierarchically accessible and easily readable form, the documents will be more useful and understandable to user. The objective of this paper is to develop an efficient service system that automatically transforms each document on the disk to XML-format document, hierarchically recomposes the transformed documents -XML documents- and provides searching and browsing service to users. The proposed Word Document Management System effectively provides searching and browsing for stacked old documents on disks as well as newly created documents, therefore we can raise usefulness of KMS.
