This paper discusses what the learning management system(LMS) is and the needs & usability of the LMS as a tool for ‘communication education’. In order for the detailed discussion, we explores the standards of the global communication, and roles & functions of the LMS as a function of communication. The functions are compared for the cases of the pre-existing LMS at Korea University, the Blackboard and the Moodle (two world-leading learning management systems) by assessing and comparing their availability as a tool for communication. A survey has been conducted to gather the comments on the LMS designed for the learners at engineering department. The strategies for the future utilization and the support of the LMS are suggested based on the survey.
