With the increase of sophistication in our daily lives, there is an increased interest in enjoying the arts culture. Due to this phenomenon, the amount of top-tier museums has multiplied, visitors are more aware and have knowledge of the displayed pieces, and the role and training of curators and docents became of great importance. However, there are not enough docents and curators to satisfy the higher demands caused by the sudden increase of museums. In order to address this issue, a docent robot has been designed.
This paper will address how the robot will move autonomously throughout the museum and curate museum displays as well as how the robot will interpret and comprehend the visitors’ body language. Supported by the research provided in this paper, docent robots, if placed in museums, will be beneficial for the smooth running of museums.
