Through a class on church space design, this study understands basic theories on space planning and a systematic design process as trying to design church spaces to be good enough for a church to communicate with those local residents in need of help who are considered neglected as far as the essential meanings of the church concern. The study aims to design spaces in the church to be positive enough to communicate not only with Christians but also with the local communities and by doing so, the study comes up with basic church space organization references which would help the churches to fulfill their own functions to serve, helping people get healed regardless of how big these churches are. The research methods of this study are summarized as follows. First, through discussions and case investigations, the study selected a target area which needs to be served. There, the church fulfilled not only its original role which is a religious function but also this social function which is conducted based upon its belief in sharing. Second, the study reviewed literature and other case researches and then, carried out an analysis in order to understand problems, searching for solutions. After the analysis, the study came up with a background of the target area, concepts, a design process, an idea sketch, a blueprint, a perspective drawing and a model and while doing so, the study proposed a church space design proper enough to help the church not only to maintain its social function but also to communicate with a local community.
