With the rapid growth of smart device penetration, literally millions of applications have appeared in app stores and so have various types of dictionary apps. In conjunction with this flourishing of apps, this paper makes an attempt to analyze one type of dictionary app―app dictionary, or app version of “digitized paper dictionary”(Svensen 2009:438). For the analysis of the features and search functions, five app dictionaries are selected from Apple’s App Store: two monolingual English dictionaries and three bilingual English-Korean / Korean-English dictionaries. Demonstrating the details of the five app dictionaries, this study presents how well dictionaries have been transferred on to this new medium and what kinds of differences are
