This article attempts to dialogue between theology and science about namely in the beginning. At one point the Catholic Church had regarded scientific studies as heresy. For instance, Galileo Galilei was ordered to completely abandon the opinion that the sun stands at the center of the world, heliucentrism. Later, however, Pope Pius XII declared that the Big Bang theory does not conflict with the Catholic concept of creation, at the opening address of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences in the year of 1951.
For the dialogue between theology and science, it is important how the first verse of the Book of Genesis is understood. Almost every version translates it as an independent sentence: In the beginning God created heaven and earth. However, the recent interpretations such as NRSV and New Jewish Version understand the verse as a dependent clause, `When God created heaven and earth.` Then the first creation can `light` in the biblical creation which can connected to the Big Bang model. In the scientific aspect, the Big Bang theory is now the prevailing cosmological theory of the early development of the universe.
Next, we have to explore hermeneutical correspondences between both sides. Science is a systematic work that `divides and analyzes`a subject and organizes a theory system in the form of testable explanation. Theology is a highly abstract system that `links and connects` biblical teachings and church traditions. Strictly speaking, theological approach is different from scientifical method, and also their own goals are not the same. For the theology-science dialogue, it needs penetrating penetration that is above literal and superficial anomaly. If the Big Bang model and the biblical creation work together, the beginning of the universe will be examined much more inspiring.
