The purpose of this paper is to examine some sociological factors that may affect leisure behavior patterns in residents of urban areas. Avariety of factors are associated with ane`s leisure behavior patterns. Implementation of these sociological factors focus on the following three arcas: (1) Leisure resources and opportunities, (2) program design and implementation, and (3) instructional quality. The results, based on data analysis, could be drawn as follows: 1. Leisure resources and opportunities. Residents who live in close boundaries of the area of leisure service facilities have more oppoutunities to participate leisure activities than do residents who does not in both frequency and duration variables. Thus, planner should consider this point when leisure service facilities are providcd for their residents. 2. Program design and implementation. Generally, individuals with high-interested program, when compared to the high-effective program, participate more frequently in the proceeding leisure activitiesn in frequency variable. On the other hand, individuals with high-effective program participate longer than individuals with high-interested program in duration variable. Thus, well-balanced program should be necessary when considering program design and in plementation. 3. Instructional quality. Last factor related to one`s leisure behavior patterns is the difference between high-and low-in. structional quality. There has been a tendency for individuals to seek new experiences with higher quality of instruction. More participation could be drawn as high instructional quality is provided to the in. dividuals in both frequency and duration variables. Thus, it is helpful that the various methods of instructional quality should be provided in order to maximize individual`s participation in various leisure activities.
