The objectives of this study are to accurately understand the character and behavior of specific individuals by accurately assessing self-conceptions factors on how humans see themselves and to determine how involvement in dancing activities relates to forming self-conceptions on the assumption that this accurate understanding plays an important role in diagnosing and predicting behaviors of the individuals. The object of this study are a total of 400 persons, composed of 200 dancing majors from high school and university in Taejon City and the South and North Chungchong Province and 200 dancing non-majors, as of 1997. A systematic Stratified Cluster Random Sampling was used. The results of this study are as follows: Firstly, as for the comparison of self-conceptions among the dancing majors, majors of modern dancing showed significantly higher in all areas of general, family, mental and physical self-conceptions factors, except social self-conceptions factor. Secondly, as for the comparison of self-conceptions in the dancing majors, majors of modern dancing showed higher than other majors in social self-conceptions (p<·00144) and physical self-conceptions(p<·048) among the self-conceptions factors. For the comparison of gender, men showed significantly higher than women in general self-conceptions(p<·0424), social self-conceptions(p<·0500) and physical self-conceptions(p<·0001) among the self-conceptions factors. In addition, for the comparison of the level of participation in the dancing, including career, frequency and intensity, it showed that only physical self- factor has been high among the individuals having high career and frequency ratings. Thirdly, as for the Discriminant Analysis of majors and non-majors using the self-conceptions factor, it was shown that the orders of factors which have an influence on the individuals are sequentially: general self-conceptions(0.851), physical self-conceptions(0.545) and social self-conceptions (0.355). Also as for analysis of types of dancing majors, it was shown that the order of factors which have an influence on the individuals are sequentially: social self-conceptions (0.886), general self-conceptions (-0.578). physical self-conceptions (0.462) but the distinction was not considered to be significant.
