The purpose of this study is to develop a model of curriculum in the field of leisure studies in Dept. of Sport and Leisure Studies. In order to accomplish this purpose, this study analyzed the current curricula which are offered within Department of Sport and Leisure studies in Korea and Department of Leisure Studies in the US. The aim of curricula of sport and leisure studies must have clear objectives and a sense of duty, and must be imbued with professional knowledge regarding the various major field. A field of leisure studies was proposed to be divided into four different areas. the area related to traditional leisure studies, the area related to applied recreation, the area related to management and administration, and the area related to therapeutic recreation. The contents of the curriculum of leisure studies in the Department of Sport and Leisure studies must be selected and organized to acquire the professional knowledge for sports and recreation leader and leisure counselor and to effectively perform their duties in sport and leisure industry. New curriculum based on this classification was developed and discussed with respect to the purpose and content of lectures.
