This study aims to examine why snow boarders enjoy snow boarding, what their fashion styles tell us as a subculture, and what are their conflicts as well as cultural characteristics of snow boarding which becomes one of the main winter sports. For this study, interviews were given to 10 snow boarders who visited H sky resort in Gangwon-do province from December 22nd, 2010 to February 28th, 2011 to examine their cultural characteristics. The results are as follows: First, as for the question on how they recognize snow boarding, snow boarders recognize it as "new leisure activity, fun, and confidence". This result tells us that snow boarders pursue fun and enjoy challenge. They have a strong interest in and a curiosity for challenging sports. They also said that they want to achieve a goal to master a new skill as well as enjoy a leisure activity. Snow boarders share information through internet. In particular, they acquire information by internet on trend of equipment or clothing that they want to buy. Second, as for the question on what kind of a meaning they endow on snow boarding, they answered they enjoy snow boarding to ``release of stress and fatigue.`` Many snow boarders say that they keep snow boarding in order to release stress caused by their every day life, and they feel refreshing that they cannot feel in a city life through snow boarding. Third, as for the question what kind of subculture a sky resort is creating as a cultural space where sky and snow boarding co-exist, they answer that they want to distinguish their style from others. They want to look different by buying famous brand name equipment and clothing that help increase their ability. In terms of style, people who have a similar style get together as a group. Also, this study recognizes that the conflict between skiers and snow boarders exist during the course of their performing different techniques.
