The aim of this study is to inquire into the plan for revitalization of golf as a leisure activity and to provide amateur golf club members with the data needed for their enjoyable golf by analyzing what influence of amateur golf club members` participating motive in golfing has on commitment to exercise appearing in the course of playing golf. For this purpose, this study drew the conclusions as below. In addition, in an effort to inquire into the relationship between amateur golf club members` participating motive in golfing and commitment to exercise, this study conducted multi-regression analysis and it s results are as follows. First, it was found that the factors of friendship promotion and leisure activity among amateur golf club members` participating motives had an influence on cognitive commitment at a level of p<.001. Second, the leisure activity factor and health-related factor among amateur golf club members` participating motives were found to have an influence on commitment to action at a level of p<.01 while self-development factor had an influence on commitment to action at a level of p<.01. However the family-related factor was found to have a negative influence on commitment to action at a level of p<.001. What can be known through this study is that amateur golf club members` golf-participating motive level is becoming higher and such a high motive was found to have a positive influence on commitment to exercise. Amongst all, their participating motives were found to be at higher level especially in the contents related to pleasure, leisure activity, self-development and health, which is interpreted as the fact that amateur golfers tend to participate in golfing for individuals` development an d they seem to make an additional effort to develop themselves more. In addition, this study results suggest that the aspects of commitment to exercise can vary according to the level of participating motives in golf. Considering this study results from an overall perspective, this research judges that for pleasurable golf of amateur golf club members, it`d be more advisable for a golf business operator to make an effort to change the environment of a golf course or driving range in order that amateur golfers themselves can voluntarily participate in golfing rather than the effort just to raise the golf-participating motive level.
