The purpose of this study was to analyze the effects of the health running training on cardiac structure and function, cardiorespiratory function and blood lipid in middle-aged men. The subjects recruited for this study were 17 middle-aged men composed with exercise group(10 runners who have regularly participated in health running for 36 weeks) and control group(7 non-runners who have exercised irregularly). Analysis result utilized in this study were paired t-test and 2-way repeated ANOVA. In the cardiac structure and function, LVIDd index, IVSs index, SV index, LVmass index, HRrest were significant difference with groups, also LVIDd index, LVPWs index, LVEDV index, SV index, LVmass index were significant difference of interaction effect between groups and time. In the cardiorespiratory function, RERmax, V·O2max(ℓ/min), V·O2max(㎖/㎏/min) were signigicant difference with groups, also V·Emax, RERmax, V·O2max(㎖/㎏/min) were significant difference of interaction effect between groups and time. In the blood lipids, TG, HDL-C were significant difference with groups. The results of this study suggest that the health running can help preventing illness. It could have a positive effect on the heart structure and function, cardiovascular function, and blood lipid. Therefore, running outside can be helpful of the psychological stability. The results expect the positive effects related to the heart. The strength of exercise should be stronger than normal level of exercise that keeps more than 6 months running exercise period. During the exercise, add the elements of running games could be more interesting for adults.
