This paper aims at examining the differences of total factor productivity(TFP) between exporting firms and domestic firms, using firm data of manufacturing sector from 1985 to 2010. The empirical results show the followings. The growth rate of total factor productivity of exporting firms is higher than that of domestic firms. Also the difference of growth rates of TFP is increasing over the recent time. In particular, the growth rate of TFP of exporting firms are higher than that of domestic firms, as the exproting firms are defined with the higher export ratio. Finally the level of TFP of exporting firms are not higher than that of domestic firms. These results imply that the export is a main channel of technology spillover and knowledge diffusion. Therefore, enhancing the exporting capacity of small and medium firms is required for continuos growth though a higher increase in productivity.
