This is a case study on the way to utilize Christian cultural assets in Korea. In particular it focuses on the method to develop a data- base of the materials concerning the foreign missionaries buried in the Yanghwajin Foreign Missionary Cemetery(hereafter Yanghwajin Cemetery). At present there are 425 graves in the Yanghwajin Ceme- tery, of which 148 graves belong to the missionaries and their family members. The background information of the 145 graves identifies that only 80 graves are the graves of the full?time missionaries. This study aims to describe the method to examine and collect, classifying the materials concerning the 80 foreign missionaries buried in the Yanghwajin Cemetery and some prominent individuals serving with them. The collection and classification of the materials allows the production of the electronic data through editing in digital form. This study is divided into the two main parts. The first part explains the way to collect and classify the concerned materials into the four contents, which is the personal, the spatial, the temporal, and the visual contents. And it also describes the main and subordinate items to be specified on each contents. The second part offers the way to divide the collected materials into nine entities, which would be the basic units of the electronic data. Finally it is to describe the way totransform the materials(structural and mark elements) on the entities into the electronic data. The study-result will be a theoretical guideline to actually develop a database of the materials concerning the foreign missionaries buried in the Yanghwajin Cemetery.
