Groupware that allows people to cooperate toward a common goal has been recognized as a key to enhance organizational performance. Despite its widespread use in real organizations, its adoption has been cautioned due to various process losses that hold back the potentials of Groupware. In this study, procedural, economic, and social psychological mechanisms that could hinder the performance when using Groupware are discussed in-depth. Then, possible solutions to resolve each mechanism are suggested. Additionally, summaries of two case studies based on suggested solutions are provided.
